In reply to Scarlett Sarnelle. Hi Scarlett! This batter should be thick enough to keep the mini chocolate chips suspended. Did you make any changes to the recipe? Make sure to use proper room temperature butter (which is cooler than many think) to begin.

Delicious and beautiful recipe, but I had a problem with the mini chocolate chips sinking to the bottom of my cake layers. I tossed them in cake flour and folded them into the batter. It was a happy accident bc the thin layer of mini chocolate chips tastes awesome and adds a lot of texture. I would still like to see the chips evenly distributed throughout the sponge. Any suggestions?

In reply to Mallory. Hi Mallory, you can certainly try it, but the heavier chips may sink in the batter. We do prefer mini chips in cake recipes!
